DESCRIPTION:MHD Promotions in association with Bet Mclean & R Kings Competitions are delighted to be bringing professional boxing once again to Newtownabbey following the sell out success of their November 2025 event which was an exciting first for The Theatre At The Mill. \nOn Saturday 31st January 2025 Mossley Mill will host the first ever championship contest featuring South Belfast native Colm “The Posh Boy” Murphy 15-0 the Celtic\, Irish\, Commonwealth Silver and European Boxing Union Silver featherweight champion when he challenges for the full vacant Commonwealth featherweight title against an opponent yet to be named. \nCarnmoney former amateur star and local favourite Kyle Smith returns as “Co Main” to the venue that saw him emphatically win his second professional contest in the first round of a scheduled six against the tough Paul Cummings from England. \nThe remainder of the card once again sees the return to action of local favourites in Hijjah McMahon – Belfast\, Gerard Hughes – Ballycastle & Carlos Pereira – Ballymena. “ \nI am delighted to be delivering this major opportunity for Colm Murphy on home soil\, he has certainly earned his right to contest having won an eliminator\, the Commonwealth Silver and then defending it at the Ulster Hall. we are in talks now to finalise his opponent.” Mark Dunlop – Promoter \nIts pretty amazing to be getting this chance to fight for another title\, for me to win the Commonwealth Featherweight Title would be a dream come true\, I believe the last man from these shores to grab the featherweight title was Billy “Spider” Kelly over 70 years ago.
