DESCRIPTION:MHD Promotions in association with A McLean Bookers & R Kings are delighted to announce their \nlink up with the BBC to bring you professional championship boxing for the first time on their \nchannel in over a decade. \nTheir first event together will be broadcast live and direct from Belfast’s iconic Ulster Hall on \nSaturday 1st February 2025 in a show headlined by Belfast’s up and coming exciting young \ncontender \n“The Posh Boy” Colm Murphy in a maiden defence of his hard earned Commonwealth Silver \nFeatherweight title. \nMurphy’s last two contests have both played out at Belfast’s SSE Arena with respective victories \nover Glasgow’s Jack Turner & Mexico’s Eric Lopez taking him to a career highest world ranking of \neighty four and a perfect professional record of thirteen straight wins including the Boxing Union of \nIreland’s Celtic and Irish titles. \nThe Co-Main contest will feature Belfast’s undefeated adopted son John “The Kid” Cooney v \nNathan Howells of Newport\, Wales as they toe the line for a defence of Cooney’s British Boxing \nBoard of Control Celtic super featherweight title in a fight which also doubles up for an eliminator \nfor the British Title. \nLennadoon native Tommy McCarthy continues his comeback on the undercard with a potential title \nfight while Dungannon’s Lightweight prospect Charles McDonagh finds himself in an amazing \nopportunity as he makes his professional home debut at the Ulster Hall following his recent first \nfight in Scotland. \nCookstown’s Teo Alin & Belfast’s Jack O’Neil both return for their third fights and will be looking to \nstay undefeated and two more names still to be added. \nThe exciting fight night will follow the Ireland v England six nations rugby match at Dublin’s Aviva \nStadium cementing and amazing night of sport for both armchair viewers and those lucky enough \nto grab a ticket. \n“Nations Fight Night” is an exciting new concept featuring champions\, contenders and prospects \nfrom Ireland\, Scotland & Wales over numerous Saturday fight nights early next year on dates yet to \nbe announced. \n“How to watch” the whole will be broadcast live on terrestrial television on BBC Northern Ireland\, \nBBC Wales\, BBC Scotland\, BBC Iplayer and Sky Channel 966 enabling fight fans to globally watch \nthe event giving everyone concerned incredible worldwide exposure. \n“We have worked hard over the last twelve years to bring local boxing to the mainstream so it is \nfantastic to pen our first contract with the BBC and look forward to working hard in 2025 bringing \nopportunities for local fighters.” Mark Dunlop\, Managing Director – MHD Promotions. \nBet McLean has been supporting MHD Promotions for over twelve years now and have watched \nMark and his fighters climb to the top and are delighted to play our part at they move forward with \ntheir next event.
